The prices of major farm produce monitored by MOFCOM began to fall last week (January 30 to February 5), while price of material for production saw a slight rise.

The average price of 18 vegetables dropped 5.8% as compared with that of the previous week, of which the prices of green peppers, cucumbers and peppers dropped by 16.7%, 15.4% and 9.9% respectively, bitter gourd, tomatoes and cabbage dropped by 8.7%, 6.8 and 5.3% respectively. The retail price of eggs dropped 0.4%, 0.3 percentage point higher than that of the previous week. The price of meat fluctuated slightly, of which pork dropped by 0.8%; beef, lamb and chicken rose by 0.6%, 0.2% and 0.2% respectively. The prices of grain and oil maintained a steady growth, of which the average prices of wheat flour and rapeseed oil rose by 0.2% and 0.1%; rice, soybean oil, and peanut oil remain unchanged. Affected by the frozen of Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, the market supply of aquatic products reduced. The average wholesale price of 8 kind of aquatic products rose by 0.2%, of which small yellow croaker, small cutlass fish and carp saw a rice of 1.2%, 1.2% and 0.4%; yellow croaker and crucian carp saw 0.2%, and 0.1% price rise respectively.

Of major material of production, the prices of non-ferrous metals, mineral products, rubber, steel, agricultural production rose, while chemical products, building materials and material for light industry remain unchanged, and energy resources saw a slight decline. The price of non-ferrous metals saw a rise of 1.4%, of which zinc1 and copper1 rose 3.8% 1.5% respectively while aluminum A00 dropped by 0.6%. The price of rubber was up by 0.7%. With the rising price of international natural rubber and the raw materials, the price of rubber saw a slight rise; of which RSS3 and standard rubber 1(made in China) were up by 0.9%. The price of steel saw a rise of 0.1%. Driven by declining steel production, reducing market supply and the raised factory prices of building materials, the price of steel saw a slight rise after Spring Festival. Of which 10mm common plate, Φ16mm ordinary round steel and Φ12mm rebar increased by 0.5%, 0.2% and 0.1% respectively. The price of agricultural production rose by 0.1, of which urea and diammonium phosphate up by 0.6% and 0.1% while NPK fertilizer dropped by 0.3%. The price of energy resources dropped by 0.2%, of which coal and petroleum saw a decline of 0.3% and 0.2%.
